tuc tuc
Description:
This piece depicts my main form of transportation in Guatemala, Tuc tucs.
Inside the tuc tuc are two young children. Usually, in our town the tuc tucs are driven by very young kids, as there are not very many economic opportunities for families.
This piece is meant to represent the loss of childhood that these children experience, alongside the pride of being able to contribute to the family.
This started as a photograph, from which I then digitally sketched out the design in Procreate. From there I used a very basic toner transfer technique to put the design on commercial flooring, to substitute traditional linoleum.
I printed it in one layer, cutting out certain areas of the matrix to make a sort of vignette with the noise around the subject.
