Sofia Sise

Hola, I’m Sofia, an artist, illustrator and printmaker from Mexico, based in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.
I capture the mundane and the stories of the people around me in photographs, digital illustrations, and ink. The three volcanos that surround me inspire me to look beyond the human form.
Central to my work is the visual language of Guatemalan indigenous culture—its glyphs, textiles, and ceremonial forms. I treat these not as ornament but as a living archive, one that holds community, resistance, and memory. I bring them into conversation with images drawn from daily life: the street corner, the market, the domestic moment, the small unremarkable scene that quietly contains a whole world.
